Lahore, 23 October 2021: The sixth-round of the Cricket Associations Championship 2021-22 got underway in three Punjab venues today.
Northern’s Abdul Faseeh scored a century while Sindh’s Junaid Ilyas picked six wickets on the first day of the sixth-round matches.
Over at the Saeed Ajmal Academy in Faisalabad, Central Punjab after opting to bat were dismissed for 174 in the 56th over. Rizwan Hussain top-scored with 43 off 56, hitting two fours and as many sixes.
For Sindh off-spinner Junaid Ilyas picked six wickets for 56 in 21 overs. Arish Ali Khan grabbed two wickets for 31.
At stumps, Sindh were 99 for three in 23.4 overs with Ahsan Ali top-scoring with a 35-ball 43, laced with seven fours and one six.
Over at the Rana Naved Cricket Academy in Sheikhupura, Northern’s Abdul Faseeh struck his first century of the tournament to help his side post 264 for six in 64 overs after being put into bat by Southern Punjab. Opening batter Faseeh scored 107 off 142 balls, which included 17 fours and two sixes.
The left-handed batter Faseeh knitted a 113-run partnership for the third-wicket with Ali Imran (50 off 95, nine fours).
For Southern Punjab, Ahmed Hasan and Ali Shafiq picked two wickets apiece.
Over at the LCCA Ground in Lahore, Balochistan after being put into bat were 182 for six in 64 overs when stumps were called early due to bad light. Captain and opening batter Azeem Ghumman top-scored with a 99-ball 57 hitting eight fours. Abdul Hanan was other significant run-getter with an unbeaten 44 off 81 balls striking six fours.
For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Arshad Ullah, Maaz Khan and Zohaib Khan picked two wickets each.
