Lahore, 30 September 2023: Abbottabad defeated DM Jamali by an innings and two runs on the third day of fourth round of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2023-24. Sialkot, after putting up 375 on the board, exerted pressure on the AJK batters causing the latter to lose ground in the game. Mohammad Musa scored an unbeaten century to keep Islamabad afloat. Hyderabad batter had an exceptional day with the bat, closing in on the mammoth trail produced by Bahawalpur in the first innings.
AJK v Sialkot at Muzaffarabad Cricket Ground
Sialkot resumed their innings from 221 for four at the start of day three. Ashir Mehmood added 40 more to his score from the previous day, ending at 168 from 286 balls. He hit 15 boundaries and two maximums. The second-best score in the innings came from Salman Khan, who scored 42 in 83 balls (7x4s). Sialkot ended their innings at 375, after being bowled out.
Faizan Saleem and Aqib Liaqat got four wickets each.
AJK had a tumultuous day with the bat, as they lost wickets rather frequently. Nadeem Khalil was the highest scorer for the side (30, 74b, 2x4s, 1x6). Bilal Asif and Mohammad Waleed had two wickets each as Sialkot pushed AJK to lose six wickets, for just 151 runs at the end of the day.
Islamabad v Quetta at Mirpur Cricket Stadium
Islamabad had lost six wickets and scored only 169 runs by the time play was closed on the previous day. Mohammad Musa, who produced an unbeaten century (102, 201b, 17x4s), saved his side and ensured they got to a safe score of 300 runs before they were bowled out. His effort was complemented by a half-century courtesy of Rizwan Ali (56, 147b, 5x4s).
Jalat Khan got a five-wicket haul and was the pick of the bowlers.
Quetta’s second batting innings was not nearly as impressive as their first batting innings. The side lost five wickets and only scored 99 runs before close of play. Haris Hassan and Ali Imran managed to grab two wickets apiece.
Abbottabad v DM Jamali at Multan Cricket Stadium
After dismissing the opposition for 390 runs yesterday, DM Jamali had commenced their batting innings without scoring a run in two overs. Coming to bat on the third day, DM Jamali could only post 200 runs before they were dismissed. Abbottabad won by an innings and two runs.
Despite fighting knocks by Taimur Ali (108, 227b, 16x4s) and Mohammad Shahid (61, 128b, 5x4s, 1x6), DM Jamali remained well behind the opposition.
Abbottabad, on the back of a collective bowling effort, were able to retain their dominance in the innings. Israr Hussain returned with four wickets and Khalid Usman had three wickets to his name.
Bahawalpur v Hyderabad at Sheikh Khalia Sports Complex Rahim Yar Khan
Hyderabad’s scorecard read 143 for two at the start of day three. They had a rather successful day, adding 261 runs to their total while only losing three wickets in the process.
Mohammad Suleman, who scored 143 runs from 251 balls and hit 23 fours, was the highest contributor with the bat. He was helped by Ali Ahsan (84, 173b, 9x4s, 1x6), Daniyal Hussain Rajput (80 not out, 206b, 9x4s, 1x6) and Jawad Ali (51, 113b, 6x4s, 2x6s).
Shahzad Gul, who had taken a wicket the previous day, got another one. Mohammad Umair got two wickets during the day.
Hyderabad’s score read 404 for five at stumps.
